President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly submitted the long-awaited ministerial list to the President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly, Senator Ahmed Lawan.
A source in the Aso Villa who craved anonymity revealed to the political correspondent of StateReporter News that the President tendered the proposed cabinet list to Lawan Tuesday evening albeit expected to be made public on Friday.
The source who is very abreast with the development in the villa further disclosed that over 40% of the immediate past ministers made the list and that only a few persons were replaced with new persons in furtherance of the President’s desire to appoint persons he has personal knowledge of.
According to our source, the former Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, his counterpart in Transport, Rotimi Amaechi as well as fellow ex-cabinet members, Zainab Ahmed, Lai Mohammed
Solomon Dalung, Hadi Sarika, Abubakar Malami and Suleiman Adamu made the cut.
StateReporter News also gathered that a long-time friend of Mr Buhari who is also a retired Army general, Jafaru Isa is the new ministerial nominee from Kano State.
He would take place of Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, a former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) who served as the Minister of Interior.
The source also disclosed that the former senator representing Benue North-West senatorial zone in the National Assembly, George Akume is also among the few persons who made the ministerial list on a “party loyalty basis”.
When our correspondent enquired further on when the full will be disclosed to the public, the source said, “the interesting thing is that the list has been transmitted to the chairman of the national assembly in compliance with our laws. We are working towards Friday so that the leadership of the national assembly and other stakeholders will put things together to ensure rapid screening of the nominees so that they can swing into action.”
Our efforts to ascertain the number of persons contained in the list given the speculations in some quarters that the President will enlarge the list of nominees to accommodate the many entrenched interests that are mounting pressure on the president to make the list was fruitless as the aide insisted we wait for the official unveiling of the list.
