Group Backs Goje For Senate Presidency

A group, Empowerment for Unemployed Youth Initiative has endorsed the aspiration of Senator Danjuma Goje to be the president of the 9th Senate, which will be inaugurated next month.

Goje’s supporters said that he has the required legislative and administrative qualities to rebrand the Senate and complement the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari to move the country forward.

After a meeting in Abuja yesterday, the group’s president, Comrade Solomon Adodo, said that his members’ support for Goje was borne out of his genuine desire to add impetus to the incoming National Assembly leadership to effectively drive legislative processes and accelerate national development, combating unemployment and its induced crimes.

Adodo identified the sterling qualities of Goje to include hard work, experience, expertise, competence, and commitment to overall national development and political versatility.

He further said that the achievements of Goje when he was governor of Gombe State were there for all to see, adding that they were pointers to what he can do when vested with leadership responsibility.

Comrade Adodo said: “I am fully aware that there are other contenders for this seat. But our coalition has chosen to pitch tent with Senator Danjuma Goje. This decision is as a result of his incontrovertible track records which fuel our conviction and belief in his ability to deliver on any given or assigned task.

“As a governor of Gombe State for two terms, he ensured due diligence, commitment, and dedication to duty which brought the state out of the woods to its modern status.

It is on record that Gombe State enjoyed significant peace and security throughout the tenure of Senator Goje and this opened the space for economic growth and job creation.

We want the same replicated at the national level.

“We have also carefully reviewed his contributions to legislative business in particular and the nation by extension which earned him the chairmanship of Budget and Appropriation Committee. By allocating resources to the most critical sectors of the nation, he has impacted positively on the economic and infrastructural base of the country.

“We are optimistic that, the tested, trusted, ready, willing and available compatriot will deploy such energy to stabilise the Senate and place it on the path to successful deliberations and quality legislation. We, therefore, appeal to all senators-elect across parties to vote Goje as the president of the 9th Senate.”
